Duties

Management accounting

  • Day to day bookkeeping using Receipt-Bank and Xero (including both sales and purchase ledger, as well as all bank reconciliations)
  • Period end procedures to bring clients’ accounts up to trial balance, ready for reports to be run, including a full set of reconciliations
  • Ensuring technology is used to reduce manual processing and enhance speed and accuracy wherever possible
  • Communicating with other team members about the status of work and coordinating work as needed
  • Communicating with clients to keep the flow of work up to date, to discuss coding and to update processes

VAT

  • Ensure VAT returns are prepared for each client in a timely fashion
  • Reconciliation of VAT accounts

Statutory Accounts pre-preparation

  • Assistance with a structured pre-preparation process for each client

Technology and Training

  • Finling uses Xero and Receiptbank, together with a range of add-ons in order for our clients to benefit from the most modern technical environment
  • We will ensure that you follow a full training programme for both the core technologies, and become certified in Xero

Training, Skills and Experience

Required

  • Qualified or part qualified with AAT, ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW
  • Experience of managing a portfolio of clients (or divisions/departments) to a tight monthly schedule
  • Experience of managing workflows
  • Experience of developing procedures to speed up, or improve the accuracy of management reporting
  • Very good communication and client management skills
  • Has the ability to build strong relationships with a range of clients and people across the team
  • Diligent and focused in completing tasks
  • Able to plan work in order to meet deadlines
  • Able to show initiative but also good at knowing when to ask for help and support
  • Good technical skills and a real interest in technology developments

Desirable

  • Prior experience of Xero or Receiptbank, or other cloud accounting tools
  • Property accounting experience
