Financial Advisory – Budgeting and Forecasting

Planning for the future is most effective when supported by data-driven forecasts. At Finling, we integrate your historical financial information together with your business insight to develop budgets and forecasts that support decision making. Here is what the process may look like:

Recognising the need

Clients come to us at all stages of their forecasting journey. It may be that they only have a few ideas jotted down, or they may already have a fully functional forecast for the next three years. No matter what stage you are at, we can provide insight and utilise our knowledge to get as much from the data as possible.

Building the first forecast

If it is a first time building a full-scale forecast for your company, we’ll work through your profit and loss statement and your balance sheet step by step to find the areas with the greatest variation over time, or where significant changes may be expected. We build on the basis of three-way forecasting, so any changes in the profit and loss will be reflected as expected in the balance sheet and cash flow statements

Expanding as per your goals

Once a full forecast is in place, you may decide to use that as your budget for the year. Alternatively, you may decide that you’d like us to update this forecast monthly or quarterly to reflect the business’ current and future position.

Key decisions

Whether you are planning a hiring round, taking on new clients, or exploring a strategic change such as an acquisition or demerger, we can model scenarios to help you understand the financial implications and make informed decisions backed by relevant data.

Ongoing support

If a rolling forecast is something that interests you, we can consistently update your forecast to show whatever period you would like to. Having a regularly updated set of rolling forecasts can give helpful insight into the business’ position and where new opportunities or threats may appear.
