Are you looking for a Payroll Assistant role and want to be part of a growing, successful “fusion” accounting practice?

When you join Finling, you become part of a team delivering ingenious accounting for ambitious entrepreneurs. Working for mainly tech sector corporate clients, we fuse the best elements of working in industry with the best elements of working in practice, so that you have the most fulfilling career possible.

You join a team that really cares about your early career and will enable you to learn and grow as a Payroll professional.  We support your journey to qualification, on a fully structured (and paid for) apprenticeship programme.

You will be part of a team that cares passionately for its clients. We focus on a smaller number of deep relationships with clients, providing both their finance team, and their compliance and advisory services.  This is different from the traditional “transactional” relationships you normally find between practice and client.

You will have the choice to work flexibly, from home on Mondays and Fridays, if you wish, and in the office for everyone Tuesday to Thursday.

You can vary your hours around our core hours of 10am to 4pm.

We have a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you to achieve a work-life balance, and to look after you through good times and bad.

What will you receive by working at Finling?

  • Full study support, including time off to study, as well your costs covered under the apprenticeship scheme

  • 20 days holiday, plus bank holidays and the last half day before Christmas, as a minimum. There is no fighting for holiday at Christmas and New Year, as everyone is permitted to take leave between Christmas and New Year.

  • A full range of benefits, from season ticket loans, to health insurance, buying and selling additional leave days to profit sharing bonuses

  • We are a small entrepreneurially spirited practice, and this can mean that for the right person there are great opportunities to fast track your career, to progress faster and take more responsibility than is possible in larger organisations. Right from the earliest days you will take on ownership of your work and liaise directly with clients.

What do we need you, as a Payroll Assistant, to be/have?

  • A good team-player, who is ambitious and keen to grow within their role

  • At least grade 4/C GCSE in English and Maths

  • Two good A levels (or equivalent), ideally in subjects with relevance to office/payroll work

  • Able to plan work in order to meet deadlines

  • Able to show initiative but also good at knowing when to ask for help and support

  • Excellent communication and client management skills

  • Excellent written and spoken English and numeracy skills

  • A good team-player, who is ambitious and keen to grow within their role

  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook

Here are what some of our recent graduate trainees have said about working at Finling:

“I have worked at Finling for 8 months at this point and the breadth and depth of knowledge that I have accumulated is beyond what I could have imagined. I have been provided with so many opportunities for development and feel consistently supported and encouraged. We are a close team and there is always somebody willing to lend a hand.” Adam, Graduate Accounts Trainee

“At Finling, I have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with clients while being supported by an incredible team. Every challenge becomes a learning moment, and asking questions only opens more doors to growth. With the guidance of my peers, I build confidence, expand my skills, and contribute meaningfully to the team’s success” Nahian, Graduate Accounts Trainee

Must have the right to work full time in the UK.
